Now I thought perhaps this is an issue with the emulation and there was a solution available through Xbox support. And while the Customer Service Representative was helpful as he could be, he stated my troubles were indeed an issue that needed to be solved, but there was nothing he himself could do to help me solve them.
Researching other physical copies of complete games, such as Fallout 3 GOTY Edition, revealed to me that there was no troubles there in recognising the on-disc content and enabling it for consumers.
Therefore why is this a problem for Dark Souls: Prepare to Die? Seeing as it is essentially the exact same concept; the base game and all DLC content included as a package on the disc. What is the solution? Surely there should have at least been a public statement for the announcement of Dark Souls being backwards compatability specifically stating the Prepare to Die edition would not support DLC? Yet all the announcement articles I've read state support for the DLC was either not addressed or they did not mention any concerns or issues with supporting the DLC at all?
There either needs to be a fix to address the issue of the emulation not verifying what is on-disc content OR some sort of recompense needs to be issued to those of us who had or bought a copy of the complete edition for the exact reason of having the base game and DLC included in the one physical package. Thanks for bringing this issue to our attention, sorry to hear you're having trouble accessing the DLC connected to the physical edition of the disc.
If you don't see the content there please be sure to check out our Backward Compatibility Troubleshooter and run through all the steps there. Please make sure to fill out the survey near the end so that we can provide the information to the right team. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help.
