I still find SlikyPix hard to use - I never know what order to do things in. That is my problem, also. Even then, you will not normally need to adjust each slider in each tool. In practice most shots need in order from top to bottom : 1 Exposure adjustment. If you give me a RAW I'll happily take you through it.

I wasn't aware there was a free c1 express version available, I'll take a look at that. I only use it for the most challenging RAW conversions because the user interface is challenging - but the Fuji RAW conversion algorithms are the proprietary best. Out of the box there is quite a big difference in image quality on ISO and upwards compared to Adobe Camera raw.

Noise is calmer for one, but there's also something different with how the colors are rendered. Output from CaptureOne and SilkyPix looks very similar to me when only looking at image noise. I always used Lightroom with my X-E2 raws.

Shrug, I use all my RAW convertors to extract a file with maximum dynamic range available and detail vs. I then finish these inherently "flat" files in PS with attention to the intended output medium.

The RAW converted file is just the starting point in the post-processing imaging chain for me. I don't think of unfaithful "film" simulations as a bad thing because I don't use them. So far the "enhance details" has done some marvelous enhancements to ISO noise so that's nice since I don't have to leave Lightroom. Iridient and SilkyPix sure have potential but there's lots to tweak and try out. Capture One seems cool and all but I've been using Lightroom since so I'm quite unwilling to leave my beloved Lightroom..

Some really do love Capture One for Fuji cameras, I totally get that looking at the output people are getting with editing. I guess the real test will be when I have some image that I want to print big and I run into problems when editing and sharpening. Now I have a lot of options, that's nice! Post reply.
